Crew Biography For Lekojen, Fenkang (npc)

Full Name: Fenkang Lekojen
Current Rank Lance Corporal
Position(s) held Marine
Species Reman
Gender Male
Age 50(20earth years)
Height 6'3
Weight 250lbs
Appearance Nickname Fang. The nickname he was given by his SFMC rescuers is due to his exceedingly long canines that are evident when he 'smiles'. Due to the harsh conditions and dilithium radiation there were many genetic abnormalities and this might be one of them, but without DNA samples from his parents it is unknown whether it is a Reman trait or simple abnormality. Most Remans are referred to as being 'vampire-like' by their human counterparts, dealing with how 'bat-like' they appear in the light. Fang is hairless like the rest of his species, his pale body though strong and virile lacks pigmentation or body hair. He has the typical yellow eyes and large pointy ears that denote some trace of Vulcanoid heritage.
Personality Before the SFMC rescued him Fang was just another suicide grunt of the Reman Expedetionary Military Force. He had been trained to be fearless, bloodthirsty and fearsome. Beyond combat training he knew little of the universe and had been trained to obey and comply with every whim of their supposed 'benevolent' Romulan overseers who were giving them this opportunity to serve the Romulan Empire rather than toiling away in the dilithium mines.

Since his status was in dispute and during the Dominion War it was easier for the SFMC battalion to just bring him along with them when they deployed and after getting over his mishmash of Romulan/Reman words, he helped out around the camp as he couldn't go on assaults with those who rescued him as he regarded them as his new masters for saving his life. In between missions and those at the mission base went above and beyond to educate him and help him control his bloodlust. He nearly killed the first Romulan he saw after figuring out that the Romulans were merely using him and his brothers as cannon fodder and shock troops.

Fang still has trouble having 'fun'. But at least he isn't trying to figure out how to kill everyone and everything he meets (though he saves that for when he has some privacy). Fang is an avid reader and is currently reading the Clive Cussler adventure series with great and enviable interest. Fang has no musical interests as he can't carry a tune, but does prefer live music to recorded/canned.
Background Like the rest of his race he was bred and trained to be a dilithium miner and little else, but due to an event at the training center where he was attacked and handedly defeated three other Remans he was tapped to join the Reman Expedentionary Military Forces...which was better food and conditions but considerably shorter lifespan on average. In the dilithium mines one usually wasted away due to the excessive radiation and poor mining facilities...while in the death squads as they were called you died quickly. He was taught little else besides fighting and trained to answer and abide by every command from their Romulan overseers. To all else he was to quickly destroy and rend with his bare hands and teeth if he ran out of ammo.

He was little more than a beast when the SFMC squad rescued him, out from under a mound of Breen, Jem'Hadar and Cardassian bodies. His squad of Reman shock troops had been sent in to 'soften' up the defenders and like good trained soldiers had done their bidding and then had been abandoned when the planet when the Cardassian and their allies counterattacked. Instead of returning for their troops, the Romulan High Command had abandoned them and let them be slaughtered and hunted down. Due to his heavily wounded condition, Fang couldn't put up much of an attack. He had only seen a human in holo-diagrams, though there had been rumors of human child in the mines but Reman miners and Reman troopers seldom mixed. At first Fang thought the SFMC were weak to waste resources on healing him but then he realized that it wasn't a weakness to care for a fallen comrade...but a honor and though he was a foreign national they couldn't let him fight...he did help out around the camp because the RSE claimed that Fang had died and wouldn't bother wasting a transport ship to pick him up, effectively ending the possibility of returning to the cruel clutches of his Romulan overseers.

The SFMC platoon took it upon themselves to educate and teach the nearly savage Reman about the universe, leaving poor Feng stunned at learning that the Romulans had used them as slave labor and cannon fodder. They taught him everything and anything as Fang turned from his wild brutal upbringing into someone with a thirst for knowledge and curious about the universe around him. Once his legal status was officially finalized he applied for Federation citizenship which took longer because of his unique origin but it was finally granted and he immediately applied to the SFMC. With enough sponsors and letters of recommendation to make any recruiter shocked, Fang was accepted and began basic training which he excelled at...boot camp was a breeze compared to the hell he had been through with the Romulan overseers. However the various nuances of control nearly washed him out. The marines didn't want a berserker, they wanted a finely tuned fighting machine. On the advice of one of his former rescuers he went to Vulcan to learn how to control his anger.

He came back a better man, one who could use his anger and not let it use him and barely managed to pass training and earn himself a spot among the SFMC. Fang has advanced slowly through the ranks, mostly because he lets superiors who are asses know it. He had enough with his Romulan military overseers trying to get him killed that he didn't join the SFMC to make the same mistake.

OTHER:
Due to his Reman physiology he is highly resistant to radiation, due to his eyes/advanced hearing is able to navigate dark corridors, passageways with ease (though bright lights will cause pain and momentary blindness, and so he has taken to wearing sunglasses and has quite a collection from every place he has gone, he especially prizes the one he acquired in New Orleans at a Mardi Gras which looks like an ostentatious half silver-moon, half golden-sun), has high endurance and strength four-times normal human. Fang does not have telepathy or even empathy but does have very strong psionic/mental shields.
