Crew Biography For Harra, Amika Susan (npc)

Full Name: Amika Susan Harra
Current Rank
Position(s) held Kojiro Kid
Species human
Gender Female
Age 8
Height 3'8"
Weight 45 lbs
Appearance Straight black hair, and a few bangs, though thin. Amika has a light skin tone, but also an Asian look, in her eye shape. She has brown eyes and normally likes practical clothes, rather than frilly little dresses. She can be considered an unusual little girl but her upbringing so far, could be considered unusual.
Personality Amika will be quiet when first met by a stranger, and until she decides whether they are friend, enemy or just another face, she will remain more quiet unless something really interests her. Like her mother, she is not afraid to voice her opinion. She enjoys reading and she loves school. She particularly likes to study history, almost as much as her father likes to study science.
Background Amika was born in 2382 to Kojiro and Elka Harra in San Francisco, California at the Starfleet Command base medical facility. Her father had returned recently from his first assignment as Ensign and her mother was on a small medical leave from the Academy, and did not travel back from Command Headquarters, because she was expecting to go into labor at any time. When Amika was born, her father was granted some months of leave time while her mother finished up her studies in Psychology and Sociology at Starfleet Academy and graduated as a qualified, beginning counselor. With both parents newly graduated and commissioned as Ensigns, they were placed in their first assignment together aboard the small USS Asimov, a science ship that was studying the components of a particular star that had gone red dwarf recently.
Amika was largely cared for by her mother, at this time. There wasn’t much need for a counselor aboard the small science vessel, other than to complete the required crew evaluations done semi annually. None on the crew had any significant problems worth addressing, so Amika got all of the attention she needed during her first two years.
After Kojiro and Elka successfully completed their assignments onboard the Asimov, they were transferred to the USS London. Amika turned 3 shortly before and was beginning to enjoy the schooling facility. Elka was much busier on the London than she had been on the Asimov, so Amika spent much time with the teacher, Astrid Nichols, or else the middle-aged Yeoman Ramona who also worked in the education facility as either a secretary or a teacher’s aide to the younger children. It was with Yeoman Ramona that Amika learned the standard alphabet, because Yeoman showed the little girl by showing her how things were filed away in her filing cabinet full of PADDs.
Amika was really confused about what had happened, when her mother was tragically killed in the Kriosian affair. She just knew that she no longer had a mother and that her father acted strange and depressed for a while and that she was spending more and more time in the education facility. When the London finally came to Earth, she was sad to leave the ship, but happy to go live with her grandparents in Japan, where she was placed in an actual school.
Amika grew more independent, while living with her grandparents, who refused to allow the little girl to go stay with her father and his girlfriend. Kojiro came around often enough, but Amika was still rather confused as to where to fit this new lady figure in their lives. When the relationship between her father and his girlfriend ended, she was 5, and happy when Kojiro took her with him again, back to his career in space. Again, Kojiro was placed on a small science vessel, but this one specialized in the genetics of different species and Kojiro excelled here, completing some great research and completing the assignment just a bit ahead of schedule. Amika’s schooling was put on hold somewhat, during this year, but she had already passed the requirements to enter not just a kindergarten, but already at the 2nd grade level and she was only 5.
This did not prevent her confusion, however, when she met her new younger sister, Minako. Minako’s mother, Mamasi Hiro had been her father’s lady friend that she saw very little, due to her grandparents’ fear of confusing the child further. Minako was almost a year old when Amika first saw her and it rather upset her at first when Kojiro took the both of them on his next assignment aboard the USS Lincoln. Amika really took to school again, onboard the Lincoln and she also saw a child counselor who helped her to accept her new little sister in a different light. Amika began playing with Minako more, in the second year that they were on the Lincoln and Minako began to follow Amika around. When the ship ran into some trouble with pirates and there was actually some intruders onboard the ship, Amika was able to lead Minako into a place to hide, though the intruder never made it even close to the education facility.
Amika turned 8 on the USS Lincoln and it was here that she was beginning to find an interest in history, especially archaeology. Her teacher onboard the Lincoln used the holodeck quite a lot and even planned field trips for the students, once they reached actual planets that were safe enough to study. Once they reached earth, the teacher took the children to see Stonehenge and Amika didn’t have to experience the tension between her father and Mamasi when Minako was handed back to her mother for the next two years after a much needed explanation on Kojiro’s part.
Amika almost didn’t want to leave the Lincoln when her father informed her that they would be transferring back to the USS London. She spent the time they had on Earth at both her grandparents’ home and also at Mamasi’s home, playing with Minako. Though Mamasi and Kojiro had their differences, they saw no reason why the two girls couldn’t see each other whenever they liked. When the time came for Kojiro to be brought back to the London, Amika was excited about all the new things she might see and learn when she returned to school.
